Our History

On January 1, 2004, Invensure was forged by the melding of two well established insurance and risk management firms in Orange County, California…Sherman/Parent Insurance Brokers, LLC (Sherman/Parent) of Newport Beach and Prince & Fleming Insurance Brokers, Inc. (P&F) of Fountain Valley.

Sherman/Parent was formed in 1997 by Richard Sherman, a 4th generation native Californian and Robert Parent, a solid mid-western transplant from Minnesota, who acquired the commercial Property & Casualty (P&C) insurance division from a well-known agency, Sherman-Douglas, Inc., with roots in Southern California dating back to 1959. The agency achieved remarkable growth from it's inception until its merger with P&F in 2004. Messrs. Sherman and Parent identified a need to broaden their portfolio of service offerings to their clients by (1) bringing in expertise to handle personal insurance matters for their client base and (2) a need to invest heavily in technology and (3) they felt there would be a need to strengthen insurance carrier relationships by significantly raising volume commitments. In order to achieve their goals, organic growth would not be enough, so the partners began the process of identifying another agency that would not only be compatible, but have the equal desire to create a synergistic business platform from which to catapult their businesses into the future.

P&F opened its doors in 1984 and was founded by Duncan Prince and Richard Fleming both California natives. Mr. Prince, with a background in the P&C insurance business and Mr. Fleming, a renowned professional in the employee benefits arena, realized the “benefits” of working together to better serve their respective customers. With nearly 20 years and over 20 employees, a good stable of commercial P&C and employee benefits clientele, P&F was also an established Personal Lines insurance production firm helping their clients with their personal insurance needs. In addition they also had the finest technology available to our industry and a strong desire to grow their operations.

The result was a perfect fit. Both firms were able to achieve a great deal more through the merger than they would have on their own. But after the dust settled, the real winner ended up being our clients.
